Just Try. 2020, Time-lapse video
In 2020 I was invited to participate in a group exhibition at Virginia MOCA called Nourish. The show paired regional artists with people in the food industry related to farming, activism, chefs, writers, etc. I worked with the Virginia Beach chapter of Food Rescue to help tell their story of strangers coming together to make a difference in the world. The concept was to work with four other artists (Caitlin Blomstrom, Navid Rahman, Mensah Bey, and Marlowe Emerson) on creating a painting. They had no idea what the painting was going to be until they showed up and could only work on it for up to four hours. They also did not know where they would sit in the order of the group. The resulting piece is a time-lapse of the creation of that painting and the visualization of people trusting and believing in each other despite not knowing the outcome and potentially not even having ones work seen by people in the end.
